Here is the selection of the games of the year :
This is it! This is it! The results have fallen!
After 3 days, about 20 hours of games and nearly 90 games played, the 28 participants in the MBGA weekend, with the help of online voting, debated and handed down their verdict!
Among the 13 games selected, they chose the winners of the Mensa Be Games Awards presented by Mensa Be, the High IQ Society of Belgium.
As a reminder, Mensa Be (Belgium) is organising a fun prize whose identity reflects what the non-profit organisation and its youthful counterpart Mensa Youth embody: liveliness of spirit and living together. With MBGAs, Mensa Be goes beyond awarding a prize, we share the reasons that made us appreciate the winning games.
- Mensa Best Game : the best in terms of reflection and overall
Solenia, by author and publisher Sébastien Dujardin (Pearl Games), seduced us with its simplicity and fluidity, the beauty and originality of its material and illustrations, and its interesting set mechanics that evolve during the game. A magnificent game, for beginners as well as more experienced players.
- Mensa Best Social Game : the most fun to play together
Decrypto is a game of atmosphere and team communication, by the publisher Scorpion Masqué, created by Thomas Dagenais-Lespérance. The mechanics, very simple, makes it possible to combine two pleasures of play: that of confusing the opponent while trying to find the most subtle clues possible. A very fun and friendly game, without sacrificing reflection.
- Mensa Youth Game : the favourite game for young people
Finally, the members of Mensa Youth have opted for a completely speedy game, with mechanisms perfectly intertwined with its theme: Kitchen Rush, by Dávid Turczi and Vangelis Bagiartakis, published in French by Geek Attitude Games. A cooperative game of real time, tense, immersive, and engaging workers’ pose.
In addition to these three awards, the committee would like to highlight two additional games that convey values that are particularly dear to the association:
- Because the prize is organised and awarded by Mensa Be: the best Belgian game is Solenia
- Because it is a value that Mensa is particularly keen to put forward: the best cooperative game is The Mind
That’s it! That’s it! The third edition of a great adventure that ends with this announcement of results in March 2019. Congratulations to the winners!
We would like to thank the publishers and distributors who supported us in this adventure (Asmodee Belgium, Geronimo Games, IELLO, Libellud, Ravensburger, Scorpion Masqué), the Lollipop shop in Chimay who lent us games for the weekend, the members of the MBGA Commission, the Imagimonde team and the Dés Punchés team.
